More Babies for Jeannie
This video, taken today, is actually two smaller offerings spliced together.
The first ends when I make the newbie triplet parent mistake of sitting within range of the babies whilst holding a shiny piece of technology, ie. the video recorder. Picture six grippy, inquisitive hands vs two, one of which is trying to hold the video recorder aloft and out of danger. Another newbie mistake is sitting on the floor and absentmindedly asking them to find your nose. Again, the swarm of thirty pokey fingers descends. And while one is happily trying to wrench your nose off your face, another is gleefully stabbing you in the "AHHH" (babyspeak for "eye") while the third is shoving all ten fingers into your mouth. There are times where I feel like the fool who tried to feed the anaconda on his own... I have actually shouted "I'm going down" when the babies have pulled me to the floor, and realized that I'm at home alone with only Sprocket to save me. This is a sobering thought. The babies are of an age and heft where they can inflict some serious damage, and the dog, while lovable in a neurotic mess sort of a way, is an idiot.
The second video is taken by Edward and ends when he had to rescue Colin from the rocking chair. Colin loves getting into the chair and can rock himself, but he has a tendency to climb into it backwards.
For those who may be new to the blog, Jeannie is Edward's grandmother who is currently in a hospital in Moncton. Here's hoping that these videos provide a little levity for everyone involved. Much love to you all.

Brrring
Taken this evening... all the babies LOVE the phone. We have several play ones for them to use. When I make the phone ring, the babies will pick up anything within reach - block, stuffed animal, bottle - and hold it to their ear. Colin's conversations usually go something like this: "O? shushuapada. Bah". Then he tosses the phone over his shoulder. I should really get that on video!

Second Haircut
This one was much more dramatic than the first haircut - and equally needed. Keith was howling the other day because his hair got caught in the snaps on his bib. And when you loooove food as much as Keith does, that is a travesty.
I went to the salon this morning with Nana to check out their availability tomorrow morning, but the receptionist encouraged us to do it right away. Apart from one poor woman trying to get a manicure, the salon was empty. Based on the babies' first very vocal haircut performance, I strongly suspect the receptionist was motivated to get us in and out of there when there was minimal risk that we would cause a mass exodus. Of course, Keith screamed the moment the stylist put the cape on him, but Colin and Evelyn were really cooperative and didn't shed a tear... in the chairs. With a bit of a sinking feeling, I realized that our emergency cookie supply was gone, so I had to resort to singing to restore the peace. You know, Before Triplets I was too shy to hum in front of Edward (with good reason, I should add). Now, I belt out "Skip To My Loo" in public without batting an eyelash.
Anyways, I digress. Taken this afternoon:
Colin, pointing to the camera and asking "Da-Da-DAT?!", which is what he does when he's really excited about something. May not be a new something, he still "Da-Da-DAT!?"s the minivan at least 5 times in a row when he sees it in the garage. You may also notice that he's sitting in the toybox. This is his favourite destination. He climbs in and doles out the toys to his siblings as he sees fit. He can get out on his own, a feat he's able to accomplish because he's got pretty good balance and can stand on his own - much to his immense self-satisfaction.
Keith and Evelyn. Poor Keith was a little off for most of the day. I'm wondering if his gums are bothering him. Evelyn's lower canines are coming in, and she doesn't seem too upset about that at the moment. However, Keith isn't the best patient. He's a very sensitive soul, and he always wears his heart on his sleeve. He cheered up later on in the evening, and because we had chili for dinner, they all got a bath tonight. Our water babies love their baths - and it is wonderful to send everyone to bed happy and smiling!

Family Resemblance...?
I had fun looking at some old family photos that my uncle recently digitalized and sent to my parents.
I thought I'd share a few:
My parents wedding day, October 12, 1968
Me at about 10 months
Me at about 15 months
Now I have to find a few pictures of Colin... I mean, Edward as a baby...for comparative purposes.
